Today a few of us went out to eat at what can only be described as the gourmet food court of the local medical park near the agency- the for profit non profit where I work. Mavis wore her silver shoes and looked every ounce the diva.

Gawd, doctors sure know how to eat. I’d say the guys concurred, based on all the food we bought. Dale and Mavis put together these amazing salad concoctions. I love that Dale’s even a little obsessed with it- it really is a great salad bar. I mean, I never thought I’d be writing about salad, but here it is.

Thank you for your interest in This Is Living Zine, where I recount the adventures of a disability rights activist embedded deep within the social service ghetto. Check back soon for updates! I took Ariel Gore’s advice from How to Become a Famous Author Before Your Dead to “publish before your ready.” In my case, this meant some website lag time as the official unveiling of the print zine coincided with Chicago’s own ADA celebration commemorating the 17th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26th.

Coming to the pages of TIL this winter: Ernesto shows us how to survive a brain injury with flair, I compile my list of the best disability flicks (films on disability- you do the semantics) of all time- send me your recommendations! Plus, highlights from the kickass disability community to be had online! Creative collaborations are underway with the Chicago Lighthouse and other advocacy groups will soon be teaming up with us to bring artful disability & patient rights advocacy to the masses! We’re your source on all that glitters, throbs, twitches, rocks, rolls, limps, stutters, aches and blogs!
